Ramble tagged 'Visa'

So here we go again. Actually, here we went last night, but it was late and I couldn’t be bothered writing a post about going live. I’m kinda chuffed with the new layout. In the middle of sewing the words for the header I was thinking that perhaps this idea wasn’t meant to fly, but it came together and wound up looking Josh-like. The backgrounds (random loading) are from postcards and photos I’m collecting from flea markets here in California – more to be added soon.. ..ish, I guess it depends on what the next market has to offer.

The WordPress integration took some work and I’m still feeling a bit, “what the fuck is php?”, but, boy it was worth it. Of course I may have missed a bug or two, so if you see anything that looks off, please let me know.

I know many pages could be written in explanation of the years passed since the whole Josh effort went in to hibernation, but I’d much rather concentrate on the now and the next. So let me sum it up in bullet form,

• Won a US visa in the US government’s diversity visa lottery.
• Quit work and started my own business to make money for the move to the US.
• The business took off and caused me to work and live in some of the least developed areas of Western Australia for 10 months out of the year.
• Stopped taking on new business, wrapped up existing jobs, packed up life and moved to the US.
• Checked out San Francisco first, on the recommendation of just about every Australian I had talked to regarding travel to the US. Found a new home and spent a few months setting up a living space and starting a new life.
• Cut the ties to working life and now doing as I please until the money runs out.

Now I’m free and adamant that I shall do a better job of the whole Josh thing. Just to prove productivity, here’s a clip of the song I’m working on at the minute which will be the second last song for the Speaking Of Flight EP.

I didn’t have lyrics / singing in mind when I wrote this, so adding such is proving to be a challenge, but that’s where I’m at.

Lots to do, but for the first time in a long while, I’m looking forward to all of it.
